Core solutions
FSO Optical networking |
 |
| Fiber cable in network solutions has been around for
over twenty years. What has changed is the exponential
growth in demand for generous, rapid and above all cost
effective bandwidth - for data, the internet and other
voice and video applications. FSO now provides an indispensable
part of the overall solution to meet this demand. |
 |
| At its simplest, FSO uses lasers, or light pulses, to
send data packets in the terahertz (THz) spectrum range
via optical transceivers. Each transceiver is bi-directional
containing a laser transmitter and receiver. Air, not
fiber, is the transport medium. Depending on the location
and configuration, transmission speeds of up to 2,5Gbps
and connections at distances of up to 4km can be achieved.
FSO is a highly attractive option in situations where
the cost and delay involved in trenching and laying fiber
is prohibitive. An FSO link can be commissioned in a matter
of hours and, invariably, at lower cost. |
 |
| As with other network types, FSO networks can be architected
for different configurations, depending on the user‘s
needs and the desired application. Redline technology
addresses the needs of both the datacoms and telecoms
businesses as a mainstream carrier class solution specifically: |
 |
Fixed line and mobile network operators
concerned to meet the exploding
demands for wireless high speed connectivity quickly
and economically |
 |
Every enterprise - public, NGO, private - concerned
to meet the demand
for increased information across the LAN, WAN or
MAN. |
